The Training for Beautiful Mothers just started

The Youthful Mother Contest just started

Hi all

It’s great to be in touch with you again and being able to share the latest updates on what is happening with the Nila Palacios Latin Fashion brand.

In one of my previous posts I talked about the beauty contest that is especially designed for mothers. On the 6th October, was the first day of training for the 24 contestants; it was really awesome to meet them all.

Ladies from the age of 30 to the late 50s, full of life and vitality and from different backgrounds, races, and culture all came together for one common thing – to prove that no matter what age you are, if you always take care of yourself you will look beautiful and when that happens that you’ll shine!

I was so looking forward to meet these ladies as I wanted to know what makes them tick, what moves them and what kind of energy they were transmitting. I wasn’t disappointed as the energy in the room was very high, even though they were tired as they were training since very early in the morning; however, they showed their best disposition towards my lead and my instructions. I felt their inner beauty shining through, and found out that the key ingredient for their smiles is their love of life.

Each of them has one thing in common and this is the love for their family and big sense of community. I felt very privileged being among them and knowing that I will be seeing them again.

The final event is going to be held at The Plenary Hall in Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, on the 3rd of November. That day the judges will decide who is the fairest of them all, but for me they are all winners.

Good Luck to all 24 participants and thank you for allowing me being part of your journey.

Until Next Post

Love you all

Dancing the night away

The Bachata Festival preparations are on the horizon; people from all over the world will be taking part in this amazing event. Bachata, Salsa and other rhythms will be spiced up by the alluring sounds of Indian music. Something worth seeing and to experience – during the whole event professional dancers and instructors will be teaching their techniques to the participants.

Nila Palacios Latin Fashion is the official designer for the dancers’ costumes and we will be selling our clothes during these four days. Venturing this time in fusion a mixture of ‘west meets east’, I am so excited about this new designing experience. Four days of dance, joy and laughter, meeting new people, making new friends, enjoying what I do and loving being part of it.

The organizer, Liitha Krishnan and owner of, is a soft-spoken Indian Malaysian lady, one of the kindest and sweetest persons I have ever met; her love for dance and community is what drives her to organize something as big as the Bachata festival.

This will be the second Bachata Festival she organizes and I know this year will be an awesome year for them as their hard work and commitment is really remarkable.

I will be posting some pictures of this awesome event for the delight of all, for now feel free to browse their website and if you feel like shaking your booty, then join us and let’s have a great time!

19th-22nd Oct – witness lots of performances and enjoy the night with dance. There will be artists from Spain, Australia, Switzerland, Japan , India Singapore and Malaysia

Let Their Beauty Glow Through

The water is boiling and many things are cooking at the moment, I am excited about the next coming days as there are so many things happening and Nila Palacios Latin Fashion is taking part in The Glowing Youthful Mother contest as the catwalk choreographer.

Glowing Youthful Mother Contest is a beauty pageant event organized by Mega Life Sciences (Glow and Pynocare skin supplements) specially targeted to mothers aged between 30 and 60 years old (yes!). Mothers remain the Heart and Soul of society. The reason for why Mega Life sciences do this is because they want to create awareness about micronutrients and how important supplements are to help women above 30 years old to keep a healthy body and skin.

This is the second year they are doing this and I am so happy to be part of it. Last year Nila Palacios Latin Fashion was the official sponsor for all the evening and office wear dresses for the 15 contestants and also the full Choreography for the catwalk. We showed the contestants how to walk, how to pose and how to carry themselves during the whole event.

As with all the events we take part, our main purpose is to make sure we share the idea of Inner Beauty and to enable one’s true self to shine through. My emphasis is only in the cultivation of inner beauty and last year many of these ladies inspired me as their beauty extended way beyond their looks; they were all mothers, they were more in touch with their feelings and their inner self, they were more understanding and compassionate – I loved working with them and felt that my efforts were all well rewarded as on the day of the final they all looked stunning and confident.

This year we have a bigger challenge as the total final count is 20 ladies! On the 2nd of September 2012 we had a sneak preview of all the 95 semi-finalists. During the whole month of October we will be grooming and teaching catwalk tips to the 20 finalists.

I feel so proud of being the catwalk choreographer for this year’s event as I know I am going to learn a lot about these ladies and I will be able to share my experiences with them – I just can’t wait to get started!!

Until next entry

I love you all.

Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my Blog.

Let the Fun Start

What an amazing starting to September with lots of events back to back!

Today I would like to talk about the AICI (Image Consultant Association) gathering at The Zest Café in Bangsar (South). Nila Palacios Latin Fashion was one of the sponsors for this event, which was held on the 1st September between 3pm till 5pm.

The main speaker for the day was Cute Carry, one of Malaysia’s most celebrated fashion bloggers. I always say fashionable people are really cool to hang out with as their level of confidence is sky high and they make you feel at ease and light hearted in their presence; Cute Carry is no exception, he excels confidence and warmth!

The talk was about how to make your online presence stronger by blogging and how to generate more sales by keeping the people engaged in what you have to say in order to add value to their lives. I am not a writer myself, I am a fashion designer. However, there are so many things that one can do as long as it’s driven by passion and love for what you do. Important things are the ones that make us feel we count and that we add value to others.

The audience was great. In the spirit of 1 Malaysia, all different races (Malays, Indian and Chinese) all came together to this event to bring the importance of image consulting to higher standards. I was welcomed so warmly and lovingly that I was overwhelmed by the friendliness of everyone.

The theme of the day was Kebaya dress, I wore my Nila Palacios Kebaya blouse made of French lace in a soft delicate white matched with a pink Tube and my Channel/Nila Palacios A line skirt, accessorized with a delicate platinum chain with a pearl pendant and a pair of pearl studs earrings and a pair of white high heels, by dressing up in Malay traditional dress

some of the attendees for the day

the crowd made me feel welcome and at home.

So my lesson learnt here was to be part of the crowd, make them see that you really care about their culture and traditions and they will respond to your care with love and warmth.

Looking for that beautiful You

Hello my dearest friends and fans

4th of July just went by in USA, then 5th of July in Venezuela, two memorable days

The days these two countries found their independence respectively.

Are you beautifully independent? I know the question is a bit weird, but sometimes we depend of some many things in life to feel and look beautiful

We depend of others people’s compliments to know we are beautiful, we depend on the media to tell us what to wear and what creams to apply in our face or body, which brand of clothes, shoes and hand bags we should buy in order to be in trend.

But when we become independent of all those outside factors we finally find out who we really are, what we really want to achieve in life  and what makes us beautiful beyond the human eye.

In my last post I talked about how to make others see your inner beauty and how to make it shine.

Our beauty depends on how we see ourselves  and how we project  to others in order to make them perceive us and accept us just the way we are.

With or without make up, dress up or dress down.

I find that the most beautiful people in the world don’t make a lot of effort to be beautiful because they already are.

I love to see people in the beach because there they are one with nature and become part of it, so

Let’s practice this

When you wake up in the morning go to the mirror and look at that person who just woke and

check her/his hair/ the face and the eyes, you will see someone who is just fresh and natural

then practice to wear nude make up when you go out (if you are a woman) or just leave your hair a bit messy if you are a man, see how many people actually look at you twice.

I hope you enjoy this post

Remember, beauty comes from inside and radiates out

Happy shining

How to make others see your inner beauty

Hi my dearest friends

I want to draw your  attention to inner beauty and how to learn to cultivate it and maintain a glow every where you go.

Many people, especially women, are very concerned about what others may think of them; often I am guilty of that too, we pay a lot of attention to our external beauty and appearance. Although it is a very important part of our being, it’s not the essential thing.

I quote Antoine De Saint Exupery, the author of one of my favorite books “The Little Prince”:

“You don’t see well through your eyes, but through your heart essential things are invisible to the eyes”

So learn how to cultivate a radiant personality, smile to strangers and you will see the positive reaction that this causes on the people you give a smile, a smile is a gift you give to others.

Learn to love yourself for who you are, look at yourself in the mirror and complement that being in the reflection, look at her or his eyes and tell that person how much you love her/him!

When you love yourself the universe loves you back and you will see wonders happening in your life, people feel attracted to you just because you shine and you radiate beauty that defies age and time.

Buy yourself presents now and then, don’t skimp on things when it comes to you, if you are kind to yourself people will be kind to you too.

The way we treat ourselves is reflected in the way how others treat us.

The key of inner beauty is self love. I must clarify this is not narcissism, this is a healthy relationship you have with yourself .

Now put this tip in practice

When you go out to a party where you don’t know everybody, dress your best, wear clothes that define your personality and make you look happy, always wear colours – avoid black if you can; Black says to others “don’t look at me, I am invisible”; now enter the room and greet the people that you know, then move on to groups of people that you don’t know, introduce yourself and say your name loud and clear so people can hear it, then extend your hand and with a wide smile ask the other person’s name, make sure you look at them at the eyes, then say “It’s a real pleasure to meet you”

This tip is to help you create a great impact on new people that perhaps in the future would be your business partners, close friends or even your future husband or wife 🙂

Remember the first impression you give to others is what really counts, that will be with them for the rest of days.

Happy shining
