Moving Forwards.

Hi Everybody

As I mentioned in my last entry, I was invited by KL expatriate magazine to sponsor a Fashion show for The Leading women’s Luncheon, which was attended by lots of expatriate and local entrepreneurial women, I had the pleasure to meet few of these amazing ladies, amongst them were the ambassadresses of Argentina, Ecuador and Turkey.

The show was held in a restaurant inside one of the most prestigious malls of Kuala Lumpur (Star Hill Gallery).

For this event I hired models from Joy division Model agency, as the name says it was a JOY to work with these models, as they are very professionals and “real women” type of models, sweet and good personalities, if you are a designer and want to have a great working experience while working with models you can follow them in Instagram for enquiries at joydivision2823.

The week of the 1st of March was a very hectic week as we had litle time to prepare, however, everything went smooth and under control, the models were on time and we call for a quick rehearsal, the reviews about the collections were very encoraging and satisfactory, and we were all happy with the results.

Now our main focus is to bring out the best of our brand to ur clients and followers, we will be using this blog, for teaching and informative purposes, making it relevant to our readers.

We are actively posting all our activities at

In our next entry I will be talking about the colours of Spring and how this is the time where we should look at our closet to start shifting the old image for a brand new vibrant image.

As always lovely to be in touch with you.

2013 to Present

Hi everybody:

Hope you all had a great week and awesome week end.

In this entry I will be covering all the events that took place over the past two years, so you know what happened and don’t feel left out.

At the beginning of 2013, Nila Palacios Latin Fashion decided that there was a time to reorganize things, so we went through a change process; our Showroom was closed and we moved to a home based office(the old office was not in an ideal location and my hours were all over the place so it made more sense to streamline), we started working on the setting of our online shop and we continued to update and populate our online presence through our website www.nilapalacios.com and social media such as Twitter, Face book Fan Page, Instagram, Linked In and, of course, our regular casual fashion shows.

At the end of that year I decided that I wanted to share my experience and my triumphs (and success does not come without failure) with other young designers or even retail people who wanted to venture in the world of fashion, either opening a boutique or even starting an online fashion business. So I started writing my first fashion book entitled Fashion with Passion – this book is actually a guide for other designers to visualize a clear path towards success and to avoid painful mistakes, which along my way I made. I know that there is a saying that nobody learns from other people’s mistakes; however, had I been guided by someone I could have avoided lots of costly and painful mistakes that I actually made in the past.

Fashion with Passion took a year to write and complete, I started writing it in October 2013 and I got it published by August 2014. I was very blessed to have found a self publishing company which helped me with the process. The book is available for online purchase through Amazon and Barnes&Noble, with links on my website if you are interested. I was also interviewed by a local blog about the book; here is the link for the article:

As a designer I feel committed not just to my clients and customers but also to my fellow designers because it is a way to serve others and help those who are new in this field.

Then 2014 came along – lots of changes happened during 2013, which prepared us to face 2014 more positively and with a more focused outlook.

In April I was honoured to be invited by the Venezuelan embassy to design some traditionally styled Venezuelan dresses for the Latin American Festival, and also to dance a folkloric Venezuelan dance. As everything was for charity I decided to make beautiful Venezuelan rag dolls to contribute for a children’s home where the money was going to be used for.

The dolls were a success and people bought them as they were each hand made and unique and we even decided to give them individual names. Pictures will be added, also if you like to purchase some of these dolls you can do it through our Fan page Nila Palacios Latin Fashion.

As my book was finished I wanted to have a Book Launching ceremony, where I could present my book and also my new Collection (the Brazilian collection). Once again, the Embassy of Venezuela in Malaysia served as platform for our brand to achieve all our desired goals. After the success of the Latin American Festival, the Embassy started preparing the 9th Venezuelan Week; every year without fail we celebrate our Country’s independence showcasing culture, art and music and, this time, fashion was present.

We were interviewed by local newspapers and magazines, also by Capital radio, in order to promote this event. Nila Palacios presented the Caribbean Collection, which was a mix of two cultures, part of the Brazilian Collection was showcased and also the Joropo collection, which consisted of 4 Typical Joropo dresses (Joropo is the National Typical dance of Venezuela). As we were celebrating the international year of Joropo music, our brand wanted to bring this music to life through stylish designs.

The show and the full week was charged with high emotions, a sense of achievement and also success as thanks to the effort of many passionate Venezuelans, we brought the image of our country to a higher level and standard. I just want to take this opportunity to thank directly to The Venezuelan Ambassador, Manuel Guzman, for elevating the cultural levels by bringing our art, music and fashion to Malaysia; also to Ms. Luisa Elena Lopez, who was always ready to help and give us advice; to Aracelis Mata, for being an awesome choreographer and my Star Model of the night during the show, Vanessa Laverde, for such an amazing job she did with the make-up; to Maria Cristina Zaman, for always being attentive to my needs; to Enrique Gonzalez Kong, for his panache and glamour, which was present in every single event; to Mina Perez, for doing an amazing job with the Public relations and finding ways for our brand to be exposed to the public.

The night of the show was amazing, high emotions were ruling and as I finished my launching speech I went back stage and cried sobbing as though I had won the crown of Miss Universe, it was one of the most exciting moments of my life.

After a very wonderful year I decided to take a rest and go visit my family back in Venezuela, 2014 ended but left us filled with great memories and wonderful moments.

After coming back from my trip, I got an invitation from KL Expat magazine, in my next entry I will be talking about that.

Thanks for being part of our brand, even if you haven’t worn a Nila Palacios dress yet, but you follow our blog.

Much love and respect, always

2012 ended with a blast

Hi everybody,

As promised here I am with more updates…

After the Tango Festival and Glowing Youthful Mothers’ Contest, once again Nila Palacios Latin Fashion was on the scene, this time working with renowned fashion stylist, Josephine Lui, to show the power of dressing; it was held during a seminar in one of the hotels of Kuala Lumpur with an audience of around 300 people. The response about the dresses showcased was awesome and after the speech people gathered at my booth to buy the dresses that were showcased – it was a real pleasure to work with this amazing woman, her knowledge in styling is extensive and she can make any woman look like a Hollywood star.

Then Christmas 2012 came, it was a time to reflect and relax, my sister came all the way from Spain to spend a full month with me, we had so much fun together – we bonded and had the time of our lives; we remembered our childhood with nostalgia, she managed to see some of my work and mingled with me at parties, she went through all of my designs and started taking what she thought it was suitable for her and did a shopping spree in the comfort of my showroom, she looked gorgeous!

As the year ended, we were very excited about the Christmas party we were helping organize for the refugee children of Myanmar residing in Malaysia; lovely Joanna Yoong was busy wrapping gifts and I was busy preparing food, our pastry sponsor was The Breadbasket, the owner is our good friend Sven Schneider who helped us provide the children with delicious pastries. We were also excited about what 2013 would bring to our brand.

New ideas came to us and we decided to start cutting all the unnecessary costs, so we came out with an online shop and called it VivaPalacios.com. In this shop we plan to work with other designers and retailers who would like to get their brand out there and don’t have the time or resources to start a new website for their own products. Sharing is caring!

Our idea was to have an online ‘One Stop’ shop where you can mix and match styles and ideas, similar to Pinterest where you see beautiful styles but you don’t know where to buy them, at VivaPalacios.com you will be able to not just pin what you like but also add it to your shopping cart, wherever you are in the world.

At that moment we were still working on this project even though started in 2013, we were determined to have it completed and ready for you to start getting what you need and what you want in one place, from the comfort of your home computer or mobile phone.

I will be adding some pictures to this post for your delight.

Please remember to post your comments and tell us what you think, your feed- back is very important to us.

With love,

Nila Palacios

Woderful to be back

Hello everybody, I am so happy to be back after such a long time of not writing to you all.

I must confess that I miss this as it’s my way to communicate with you (friends, clients and fans.

There have been a hiatus on my blog but not in the brand as there have been so much activity during the two and half years I was silent.

Before I start telling you all the news, I must apologize for not being as active as I was before, many of you were asking where I was and what I was up to, so as I owe myself to you all, let me tell you what I have been doing for Nila Palacios Latin Fashion, however this will be a short entry as I want you to keep tune to what happened.

My last entry was about the Bachata Festival in October 2012, after the Festival I was invited to be the catwalk Guru for the Youthful mothers contest organized by Glow, It was an intensive month from October till November, this time there were 23 contestants whom I needed to train to be spontaneous and look glamorous on stage.

The job these mothers did was incredible as they pour their hearts and soul to make everything easier for the organizers and me.

Once again I felt happy and content with the people who took part during this show.

After the contest, I took part of the Kuala Lumpur Tango Festival, three days of fun, dance, meeting people and of course selling clothes to people from all over the world.

Nila Palacios Latin Fashion presented a show for the participants whose reviews were very positive.

The models rocked the stage on designs specially made for the occasion, The designs were an extension of The previous Tango Collection which dresses were received with lots of applause from the attendees .

Below I am showing some pictures of the dresses and also some pictures from The Youthful Mothers contest by glow.
Next week I will post more about the past events in which Nila Palacios has taken part.

Once again, It’s wonderful to be back in touch with you all and it’s a pleasure to let you know more about what has happened in NPLF .

Love you all

Bachata Festival Kuala Lumpur 2012

Wow, Wow, Wow!!!!!

3 whole days and 4 nights of workshops, training, dancing and performances of Bachata, Salsa, Merengue, Sexy Bachata, Afro Caribbean, Dominican Bachata, Cha-Cha, Zumba. Instructors from different parts of the world came to teach dance enthusiasts new tricks and techniques they can use on the dance floor.

Ulysses and Jasmine McLarens from Australia showed us why they have been champions many times; Aki from Germany learnt impromptu Afro Caribbean dance and performed for us together with Amar Singh and Ulysses Maclarens with less than 2 hours practice – the dance was just amazing. It was very passionate and filled with energy.

Gabriel and Begonia from Spain were absolutely awesome; they were fun and very inspiring to watch. The local dancers also did an amazing job. Ryiu and Kaori from Japan were awesome in ‘Street Bachata’.

I met beautiful people from France, India, Australia, Thailand, Singapore, UK and of course from our home country Malaysia – they came all the way to learn and dance the night away, now that is what I call love for dance. The organizer Liitha Krishnan did an amazing job and thanks to her I have lovely new memories to share with all of my followers and fans.

The photographers Shasi and James Quah captivated the moments, I wish I could share all of their pictures but I will be sharing my personal favourites ones. If you want to see what happened during the three-day event, visit World Bacahata Festival Kuala Lumpur 2012 on Facebook.

Thanks to all the instructors for coming and sharing their knowledge with all of us, and thanks to all the beautiful people that opened their hearts to me

Until the next post

I love you all!

Inner Beauty Quotes

Hi all

Today I would like to share with you some of the most amazing quotes about inner beauty. Something for us to consider and reflect on!

My work as a fashion designer is to create clothes that help the woman who wears my dress (es) to feel confident and beautiful in her own skin; however, I am always venturing on a deeper level as beauty is not about the dress you wear, or the make-up you put on, or the gorgeous hair do. Beauty comes from that inner part of you called heart, deep inside your being; beauty is that calmness that one reflects and that warmth she radiates.

I say that a loving person is beautiful as love is beauty, when a woman is confident and loves herself unconditionally then I must say that woman is complete, she doesn’t need anybody or anything to complete her as all she wants and all she needs, she can find it in herself.

When a woman is happy with herself, she then can go along sharing her happiness with others.

So here are some quotes I found and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Until next post

I love you all

Nila

Quotes About Inner Beauty

“As if you were on fire from within.

The moon lives in the lining of your skin.”

Pablo Neruda

“The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a Woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she knows.”
Audrey Hepburn

“No matter how plain a woman may be, if truth and honesty are written across her face, she will be beautiful.”

Eleanor Roosevelt

“Boys think girls are like books, If the cover doesn’t catch their eye they won’t bother to read what’s inside.”

Marilyn Monroe

“Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.”
Kahlil Gibran
