Dancing the night away

The Bachata Festival preparations are on the horizon; people from all over the world will be taking part in this amazing event. Bachata, Salsa and other rhythms will be spiced up by the alluring sounds of Indian music. Something worth seeing and to experience – during the whole event professional dancers and instructors will be teaching their techniques to the participants.

Nila Palacios Latin Fashion is the official designer for the dancers’ costumes and we will be selling our clothes during these four days. Venturing this time in fusion a mixture of ‘west meets east’, I am so excited about this new designing experience. Four days of dance, joy and laughter, meeting new people, making new friends, enjoying what I do and loving being part of it.

The organizer, Liitha Krishnan and owner of, is a soft-spoken Indian Malaysian lady, one of the kindest and sweetest persons I have ever met; her love for dance and community is what drives her to organize something as big as the Bachata festival.

This will be the second Bachata Festival she organizes and I know this year will be an awesome year for them as their hard work and commitment is really remarkable.

I will be posting some pictures of this awesome event for the delight of all, for now feel free to browse their website and if you feel like shaking your booty, then join us and let’s have a great time!

19th-22nd Oct – witness lots of performances and enjoy the night with dance. There will be artists from Spain, Australia, Switzerland, Japan , India Singapore and Malaysia

Let Their Beauty Glow Through

The water is boiling and many things are cooking at the moment, I am excited about the next coming days as there are so many things happening and Nila Palacios Latin Fashion is taking part in The Glowing Youthful Mother contest as the catwalk choreographer.

Glowing Youthful Mother Contest is a beauty pageant event organized by Mega Life Sciences (Glow and Pynocare skin supplements) specially targeted to mothers aged between 30 and 60 years old (yes!). Mothers remain the Heart and Soul of society. The reason for why Mega Life sciences do this is because they want to create awareness about micronutrients and how important supplements are to help women above 30 years old to keep a healthy body and skin.

This is the second year they are doing this and I am so happy to be part of it. Last year Nila Palacios Latin Fashion was the official sponsor for all the evening and office wear dresses for the 15 contestants and also the full Choreography for the catwalk. We showed the contestants how to walk, how to pose and how to carry themselves during the whole event.

As with all the events we take part, our main purpose is to make sure we share the idea of Inner Beauty and to enable one’s true self to shine through. My emphasis is only in the cultivation of inner beauty and last year many of these ladies inspired me as their beauty extended way beyond their looks; they were all mothers, they were more in touch with their feelings and their inner self, they were more understanding and compassionate – I loved working with them and felt that my efforts were all well rewarded as on the day of the final they all looked stunning and confident.

This year we have a bigger challenge as the total final count is 20 ladies! On the 2nd of September 2012 we had a sneak preview of all the 95 semi-finalists. During the whole month of October we will be grooming and teaching catwalk tips to the 20 finalists.

I feel so proud of being the catwalk choreographer for this year’s event as I know I am going to learn a lot about these ladies and I will be able to share my experiences with them – I just can’t wait to get started!!

I love you all.

Welcome to my Blog.

Let the Fun Start

What an amazing starting to September with lots of events back to back!

Today I would like to talk about the AICI (Image Consultant Association) gathering at The Zest Café in Bangsar (South). Nila Palacios Latin Fashion was one of the sponsors for this event, which was held on the 1st September between 3pm till 5pm.

The main speaker for the day was Cute Carry, one of Malaysia’s most celebrated fashion bloggers. I always say fashionable people are really cool to hang out with as their level of confidence is sky high and they make you feel at ease and light hearted in their presence; Cute Carry is no exception, he excels confidence and warmth!

The talk was about how to make your online presence stronger by blogging and how to generate more sales by keeping the people engaged in what you have to say in order to add value to their lives. I am not a writer myself, I am a fashion designer. However, there are so many things that one can do as long as it’s driven by passion and love for what you do. Important things are the ones that make us feel we count and that we add value to others.

The audience was great. In the spirit of 1 Malaysia, all different races (Malays, Indian and Chinese) all came together to this event to bring the importance of image consulting to higher standards. I was welcomed so warmly and lovingly that I was overwhelmed by the friendliness of everyone.

The theme of the day was Kebaya dress, I wore my Nila Palacios Kebaya blouse made of French lace in a soft delicate white matched with a pink Tube and my Channel/Nila Palacios A line skirt, accessorized with a delicate platinum chain with a pearl pendant and a pair of pearl studs earrings and a pair of white high heels, by dressing up in Malay traditional dress

some of the attendees for the day

the crowd made me feel welcome and at home.

So my lesson learnt here was to be part of the crowd, make them see that you really care about their culture and traditions and they will respond to your care with love and warmth.
